Waking up to these "new" cool and frosty mornings had me wishing for a tasty warm treat to have along with my coffee.  My mornings are pretty busy with getting my son ready for school, getting the guys off to work, creating invoices, answering the phone, feeding the pets, the general picking up of the house so that I can think straight and running after a toddler.  This seems to leave me little time to eat a proper breakfast.  I was craving something that was not only filling and hearty but nutritious too.  Morning Glory Muffins came to the rescue. ...

Happy Friday!!!  We have been extremely busy lately and haven't been able to keep up with weekly posts.  I truly love sharing though so I wanted to just pop on here and share something with you that you might find helpful.  Often when you are really busy it can be a real challenge to fit in the things that really need to get done.  For me the task that I find hard and overwhelming is that of getting the weekly groceries and meal planning. With the high cost of groceries I think it is so valuable to have a true inventory ...

This post contains affiliate links see our full discloser here.I have wanted to find a round coffee table for some time now.  I had browsed online only to find coffee tables that were not quite my style and also cost a pretty penny.  I had given up on my search since I already had a smaller rectangle coffee table that was tucked to the side of my living room ready to use if I so desired.  Then a couple of weeks ago when I was taking my daily walk with my daughter to the barn I "saw" something which I have ...

This post contains affiliate links.  See our full disclosure HEREGrowing up, Saturday afternoons were for visiting my Great Grandma whom we called "Äiti", which is Finnish for Mother.  She lived just up the road from us and had an amazing view of the whole countryside.  She gave the most cheerful welcome, and wanted to make you feel comfortable.  We would always sit in her kitchen and watch her while she made the best cup of camp coffee you ever had and then she would offer us a treat like her famous Finnish pancakes, cherry cheesecake or old fashioned doughnuts.  Then ...

There was a time not too long ago that you could not get me to even touch a power tool! But, with a big change in my circumstances I had to really get out of my comfort zone and do what I had to do, if anything was going to get done. The quote, that 'great things happen out of your comfort zone' is so true. This past winter I took on a spontaneous project and it was a prime example of me getting out of my comfort zone. I would like to share the project with you and a little ...

During the summer months things get so busy that the house can get really disorganized. Coming and going often and more time spent outside can really put you behind in keeping the house in order.  Before you know it you have a lot of clutter and for me that means a cluttered mind as well.My bathroom cupboard has been bothering me for quite a while and I just had to do something about it.  As you can see it was a disaster.  No rhyme or reason to the items kept there, just scattered about.  I not only wanted to organize ...

Rainy days are for indoor projects. Agreed? I am also very blessed with an easygoing toddler who entertains herself so well, that I am able to get bigger projects done if needed. There is a corner in my kitchen that I have been trying to makeover for awhile, and I finally got it mostly done. I wanted simple, but eye catching farmhouse style. So as usual, white paint and barn wood is my go-to for that. I was searching through my outbuildings for what to use for the corner, and I happened to find an old small table in the back ...

This past weekend we took our 1985 Vanguard motorhome, aka, "Papa Vito" out for the very first time.  It might seem odd to some people to go from living in the country with wide open spaces and peace and quiet to then go camping out in nature with similar surroundings to home.  For us though it is the slowing down and just enjoying the simple things.....waking up to the water moving slowly across the lake, the warm summer breeze, the sound of the squirrels and birds and enjoying that early morning coffee while taking this all in.  Some of my ...

Good Morning everyone! Hope you all had a great week and ready for the weekend! My daughter and I got the morning chores done here on the farm, and now we are enjoying our breakfast with a relaxing read from Little House in the Big Woods.  Anyone else love reading these books to their kiddos?Ma Ingalls has truly been my inspiration in the type of mother I want to be for my daughter.  Calm, patient, positive, hard working and hospitable.  But most importantly, organized!  She made sure each day had something important to accomplish along with the daily chores. Remember her ...
